FA BASIC REFEREE COURSES
We are delighted to announce that we now have the dates for the FA Basic Referee Course in January which is aimed at candidates aged 18 or over and another course in February half term, focusing on candidates under the age of 18.
January Course
Our January course has been split into five evening sessions all kindly being hosted by Melksham Town Football Club. The details of the evenings are as follows:
- Thursday 7th January 6pm -9pm
- Monday 11th January 6pm -9pm
- Thursday 14th January 6pm -9pm
- Wednesday 20th January 6pm -9pm
- Monday 25th January 6pm -9pm
February Course
The February course will be run over three days and will be hosted at Wiltshire FA Headquarters at Green Lane in Devizes. The details of the three-day course are as follows:
- Monday 15th February 10am – 5pm
- Tuesday 16th February 10am – 5pm
- Wednesday 17th February 10am – 1pm
As part of the course you are required to complete an online safeguarding workshop.
If you are over 18 and intend to referee youth football after completion of your course, you will also need a Disclosure and Barring Service Check (DBS.)
The links for both the online safeguarding workshop and the DBS check will be sent to you once you have signed up to the course.
The cost of the course will be £115.

The FA Referees Course provides participants with an insight to the laws of the game and their practical application on the field of play. It also looks at the skills required to be a referee.
Candidates should feel comfortable to referee a game of football at the completion of the course, with 75% of the course being in a practical environment.
