Coach Development Session kicks off the North Wilts League Season
On Sunday 4th September, the North Wilts Youth League, Wiltshire FA, and FA collaborated to deliver a coach development event at Swindon Town’s Foundation Park. The event was aimed at new coaches who will be taking the reins for the North Wilts League’s new U7 and U8’s teams.
The aim of the event was to help prepare those in attendance for the upcoming season to ensure they create a positive match day experience. It focused on;
- What are positive coaching behaviours on a match day?
- What decision do coaches need to think about during a game?
- How can positive coaching be used on a match say to support player learning and development?
Craig Gorton, League Chairman, North Wilts Youth League said, "We are grateful to the 23 coaches who gave up their time to attend the event. It really does highlight the value that our members and their coaches place on getting ready for the new season. Most importantly though it shows how committed they are to helping their players enjoy our games programme. It’s really important to us that everyone involved in our league enjoys it."
Vicky Fisher, Coach Development Officer at The FA, "There was great engagement from the coaches, with lots of curiosity. The league are really forward thinking in delivering a welcome event for all new coaches before the games start – it helps lay strong foundations for good behaviours that will be paramount to their coaches journey and their players development."
Wiltshire FA will continue to deliver coach development events throughout the season. You can find out the more information about these including how to register by signing up to the Wiltshire FA Coaches Club.
