Disability Training for Clubs

A journey to inclusion - disability training for clubs

AC trophy 2

England Football is on a mission to provide disabled people with greater access to football and ensure our national sport is place where everyone feels welcome, both on and off the pitch.

To support this, in October 2023, Disability Training For Clubs launched - a comprehensive toolkit and training workshop designed to provide grassroots clubs with the knowledge and resources needed to welcome and integrate disabled people into their club.

Since launch, more than 300 volunteers from grassroots clubs across England have attended the workshop and we are excited to announce a new schedule of local workshop dates are now open for booking.

The nearest workshop for Wiltshire clubs takes place on Sunday 2 March, 9:30-12:30, at Salisbury FC - The Raymond McEnhill Stadium.

Designed to empower clubs to welcome more disabled individuals into their communities, the workshops are scheduled to take place at various locations from January to June 2025. By attending the workshop, delegates will have the opportunity to:

• Overcome barriers: Learn how to transform your club into a truly inclusive environment.
• Make a big impact: Discover how small changes can lead to significant improvements.
• Develop a Disability Action Plan: Craft a tailored plan that aligns with your club's goals.
• Gain insights from successful clubs: Hear success stories from clubs that have made significant strides in inclusion.
• Network with like-minded clubs: Connect and share experiences with others on the same journey.
• Access valuable resources: Explore a wealth of resources available to support your journey to inclusion.

Previous delegates, who attended the workshop last season, commented:

"The Journey To Inclusion workshop was a real eye opener and we now feel so much more confident to deliver disability football at our club. Thank you!!"

"Attending the Disability Training For Clubs Journey To Inclusion workshop was most helpful as it gave me the motivation to say "I can do this!""

In addition to the workshops, the Disability Toolkit for Clubs has also been updated for the new season, offering a straightforward inclusion health check for grassroots clubs to assess their current provision vs. where they want to be. By completing the health check, clubs can identify strengths and areas for improvement, along with practical tips and resources to create a robust action plan for enhancing disability provision.
